COACHESCoach RegistrationYou must be registered with USA Hockey and HPHL in order to coach in the High Plains Hockey League. See the registration page to complete your registration. You must also complete all of the following coaching requirements listed below. USA Hockey Coaching RequirementsUSA Hockey rules regarding coaching requirements have changed as of this year.
The requirements to coach (assistant or head coach) a HPHL team are: *level one certification or higher, *completion of the midget age level module, *completion of the concussion awareness program and *CAHA online registration, which includes a background check.
Confirmation of all of the above requirements will need to be printed out online (USA Hockey is no longer mailing CEP cards) and turned in to your team manager, who will then place it in the manager's book.
In addition, all coaches will need to complete the online registration for HPHL.
See USA Hockey's site for more information about the new rules and to register for a clinic or age based module. CEP Certification
Below is a list of clinics currently offered in Colorado. More classes should be added soon. Check the USA Hockey site for the latest updates.
Coaches without a current CEP must take a level one class. Coaches with a level one certification from last year must take a level two class. Coaches with a level two certification from last year must take a level three class. Coaches that had a level three certification last year can either recertify at level three or take a level four class. Coaches with a level four certification do not need to recertify. There will NOT be any more clinics offered after December.
Be sure to print your certification confirmation from USA Hockey's Online Certification List.
Age Level Modules
Everyone, including level 4 coaches, must complete the appropriate module. These are taken online and cost $10 per module. See USA Hockey’s website. They take around 7 hours to complete, but do not have to be completed in one session. The modules will NOT be available online after 12/31.
Be sure to print a confirmation of module completion. CAHA Registration and Background Check
Each coach and manager must register with CAHA once per year. If you have done this during the fall season, then you will not have to register again for the HPHL season. You WILL have to provide a confirmation of your registration though. Go to the CAHA website to register Concussion Awareness Training
This is mandated by Colorado State law.
It is online and free. Takes around 30 minutes.
Click here to register and complete the Concussion Awareness Training.
Here is another link for concussion training. Both of these programs are accepted by CAHA and HPHL.
Be sure to print your certificate of completion.
